Exodus (from Greek Exodos) means exit or departure. In Hebrew we’elleh shemoth (these are the names of
2nd of the Pentateuch
Probably written by Moses – statements in Exodus to suggest this:
• 17:14
• 24:4
• 34:27
Chronology-Exodus took place
1446 bc
• 480 years before the 4th year of Solomon’s Reign (966 bc) –I Kings 6:1
• 300 years of judges fits in this time span
• Thutomose III and his son Amunhotep II were probably pharaohs of the oppression and exodus
